The Company

Ecovative Design is a leading biomaterials company growing high performance, premium, award-winning products that are safe, healthy, and certified sustainable. Their products enable customers – including Fortune 500 companies, international mills, and furniture makers – to meet their design, production, and delivery needs while achieving sustainability goals.

The Project

We partnered with Ecovative in 2014 to build an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system that would increase transparency, reduce manufacturing & clerical errors, provide business intelligence, and ultimately save them hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The Problem

Prior to implementing an ERP system, Ecovative tracked all their processes manually using spreadsheets, emails, and on paper. These methods were tedious, prone to error, and lacked transparency. If personnel were sick or left the company, others wouldn’t have access to the critical information they needed.

How We Helped

To provide them with a system that would fit their needs perfectly, we embedded ourselves in their team so that we could fully understand their business. We took some time to learn how the company operated- from sourcing raw materials to final delivery and everything in between.

Next, we identified pain points among departments to design a system that would improve the day-to-day lives of every stakeholder. The resulting product managed a large portion of their business but Ecovative needed a system that would learn and grow alongside them. The Ecovative Information System (EIS) has been an invaluable tool for our company. Ecovative’s unique manufacturing and research based business model meant that a traditional ERP system failed to check all the boxes. Labor costs and rework were reduced significantly as all the information was clearly laid out to those who needed it. Today, Ecovative’s planning and execution revolves around this system.
